Let’s move forward together.

Meet your candidate

Hello, I’m Owen Madden,

and I’m running to be your MP for Kamloops-Shuswap-Central Rockies. As a small business and farm owner in Grindrod, I know firsthand the challenges our rural communities face. I’m running because I believe we can build a future that strengthens local economies, supports sustainable agriculture, and guarantees a prosperous life for all of us. All while addressing the climate crisis that’s already impacting our way of life.

For the past several years, my business has been growing and distributing fresh produce throughout the region. I’ve had the privilege of employing and learning from people in our community, which has helped me understand your real concerns. From rising costs to the growing impacts of extreme weather, I’m committed to working for practical solutions that improve the lives of those in our community.

We have the ability to guarantee a stable and prosperous future for young Canadians.

Please Vote Madden in the upcoming Federal Elections so we can move forward together.

a personal note

Let’s talk about the elephant in the room first…

Thanks to a certain someone to the south, this election is going to be a bit of a one issue election for a lot of us. I get it!

I get that a lot of people feel like they won’t necessarily be voting in a way that supports all of their values because the one that matters right now is not descending into fascism or being over-run by fascists. It sucks that we’re here, and I totally get it.

Here’s the thing, I’m not in this for just this election, my vision is to continue to run for at least the next decade and build the support so that we can all see a day where this historically fairly conservative riding is represented by a Green Party candidate.

I hope it goes without saying, if you vote for me, your vote is for democracy. If you feel you need to vote for someone else to insure that we’ll still be able to vote in future Canadian Federal Elections, I understand. I also hope you’ll stick around and see what else I stand for - for this election or future ones.

Why I’m running

We’ve all seen the devastating impacts of climate change. From heat domes to wildfires, our communities have shown incredible resilience in the face of these challenges, but it’s clear that government action hasn’t matched the severity of the situation. We can’t continue down this path. It’s time for change.

I’m running to ensure that our voices are heard in Ottawa. As a farmer and small business owner, I understand the importance of creating a strong local economy, supporting agriculture, and protecting the natural resources that sustain us. Together, we can build a sustainable future that supports our families and our businesses.

My Commitment to Our Community

I understand what our community needs because I have worked at the grassroots level with farmers, local businesses, and community groups. I am committed to fighting for solutions that work for us - from better infrastructure, to support for agriculture, to more local jobs, and beyond.

We face unique challenges in our rural communities.

From extreme weather events to limited healthcare access, I know these issues are top of mind for many of us. I will advocate for better rural broadband, stronger support for our farmers, and affordable healthcare for our communities. We deserve the services and infrastructure to thrive—right here at home.

The transition to a green economy isn’t just good for the planet—it’s good for jobs and local businesses. The Green Party’s approach to climate action will create new industries, strengthen our economy, and ensure that our children have a future they can thrive in. In fact, tackling climate change presents an incredible economic opportunity, and we’ve been missing out on it for too long.

Rather than choosing between environmental protection and economic growth, we can do both. With the right investments in clean industries, we can create good local jobs, help our farmers adapt to new practices, and make sure our communities remain strong and vibrant.

Building a Green Economy:

More Jobs, Stronger Communities

My Personal Story of Change

I didn’t always have a deep understanding of the climate crisis. In fact, 20 years ago, I was a practicing lawyer in Ireland with a view that things were generally okay. That view was turned upside down after a conversation with a potato farmer at a local market. He told me about the dramatic changes in growing practices his family had faced over the years due to changes in weather patterns - climate change. It was this conversation that sparked my passion for environmental law and led me to change careers.

I moved to Vancouver and worked with Ecojustice, where I saw the impact of climate change and environmental destruction up close. But it was my work with the Wilderness Committee that truly changed my perspective. I knew that the real change would come from outside courtrooms—by working directly with communities and advocating for policies that create real, lasting change.

Eventually, I met my partner Emily, an urban farmer, and together we embarked on a journey to build Shuswap Organics and Nature Delivered. These businesses have allowed us to work alongside local farmers and families to provide fresh, healthy food to our community. By embracing organic, regenerative farming practices, we’ve not only improved the health of our land but also helped other farmers adopt climate-friendly practices that make their operations more resilient.

A Clear Vision for the Future

I’ve seen how climate change has deeply affected our farming communities, and I’m frustrated by the lack of action from those in power. But instead of staying frustrated, I decided it was time to do more.

That’s why I’m running for office—to fight for policies that protect our land, support our farmers, and provide good-paying jobs in clean industries.

The Green Party is the only party with the ambition and dedication to meet the climate challenge while generating good Canadian jobs in sustainable industries. My life has taught me that good actions are rewarded over time, and this transition to a green economy presents the economic opportunities we’ve been missing out on.

We need bold leadership to make this transition, and I’m ready to lead. The support of our youth—who see this as the future they deserve—gives me hope and energy as we move forward together.

A Future We Can Build Together

This election is about more than just voting for a candidate—it’s about voting for the future we want. Together, we can ensure a prosperous future for our children, protect our environment, and build a stronger, more resilient community. I’m asking for your vote to help us make this vision a reality.

Let’s create a future that works for all of us. Together, we can make Kamloops-Shuswap-Central Rockies a place where everyone can thrive.

I need your support to make this change happen. Join me in working toward a greener, more sustainable future for our community. Let’s make sure our voices are heard in Ottawa. Vote Madden in the upcoming Federal Elections and let’s move forward together.
